That’s it. The snow in the middle of the river, close to the birches, is what is left of the igloo. What is special this year is that the level of the Vindel river has raised so early, before the igloo has totally melted. Usually, this high level of the river is typical in the beginning of June, but we had a warm period late April that caused a quick start of the snow melting.

Here it is! For the fourth year, you can experience the igloo on the icy Vindel River in Sorsele. It has been built by Sorsele River Hotel that organises events for groups. Besides driving on ice, snow mobile tours and other winter activities are organised and an evening in the igloo is included in the event. Cocktails are served in ice glasses at the ice bar where even ice tables, reindeer skin and nice lightening contribute to a magic atmosphere.

What a lovely winter day! This is a perfect chance for little Emma, in her traditional kick-pram (see photo) and her mother Liselotte to make a visit on the Vindel River in Blattnicksele and check how the snow arena is looking this year. As you can see it is not ready yet, but it is actually possible to identify where the towers of the Snow Castle will be built. The Winter Festival will be a two days happening on 14 and 15 March. On Friday 14, the Vindel River Dog Sleigh Race will have a changeover just close to the Snow Castle where refreshments will be served. On Saturday 15, there will be many activities during the day and of course, even at night with pub and dancing on ice!
